ESTIA PIERIDON MOUSON KATERINI
The ESTIA PIERIDON MOUSON was founded in Pieria in the spring of 1954, and today operates the following activities:
THE TRADITIONAL FOLK DANCE GROUP. Founded in 1969, this has 350 members whose activities include dancing, music, art and the maintenance of some 300 traditional costumes, several of which are original.
During the past twenty years it has been responsible for keeping alive the tradition of Greek Folk dancing through seminars and lessons in Primary schools, Gymnasia (secondary schools) and Lykeia (High schools).
THE TRADITIONAL MUSIC GROUP "OI PAROLYMPOI". Over the past few years this group has put on a series of productions of Greek Folk Music, specialising in the folk music of Pieria and Greece. The "PAROLYMPOI" have a section in the ESTIAS PIERIDON MOUSON of Katerini. A FOUR VOICE CHOIR. Operating throughout the year, this choir concentrates on music from the classical period up to the present day. From its foundation in 1959 up to the present day it has won 5 National competitions and 2 international awards.
PHOTOGRAPHIC CLUB. The club has had the enthusiasm to organise four photographic exhibitions. It has a library, a dark room and a class room due to the co-operation of NELE Pieria.
It cooperates with other clubs in the region, photographic magazines and the Greek Photographic Society.
